The Route
Due to very strickt and very unfortunate regulations, it will not be possible to organise all the necessary visa within the time we need (or only against improportional high cost), to travel from Iran through the Central Asian Countries. We therefor have decided to change the plan and travel through Russia, Kazakhstan, Siberia and Mongolia to China. This means we will also visit the beautiful lake Baikal.

Of course we will first go to Paris, where the Eiffel-tower already stood firm in 1907. After making a group-photo the journey really starts. We'll ride through Germany and Austria which may sound boring, but without making distance we won't have a journey and this is a good way to get used to riding your fully packed bike and to get into a travelling rythm.
In Hungary we'll feel like 'being on the road' already a little and we'll be really on tour when in Rumania, because here we it looks like stepping back 40 years in time. We'll travel through the Ukraine, where we will visit the former Stalingrad (now called Volgograd) and ride along the river Volga to Samara and head for Ufa in the Ural Mountains.
From Russia we will enter the North of Kazakhstan and travel to the capital city Astana and to Semi Palatinsk, from where we'll return to Russia to ride through the Altaj Mountains to Abakan and then into Siberia to Irkutsk and Lake Baikal. From Ulan Ude we'll head south towards Mongolia.
Plan is to make a loop in westerly direction from Ulan Bator, to be able to see more of this beautiful country. Then it's time to head on towards China.
In China a visit to the Forbidden City and the Chinese Wall will be two of the highlights, but there is much more...
Please keep in mind that the route may change during the process of preparation or even during the tour.

These plans may change
Just like it is common sense among all world travellers, we choose our destinations, put a red line on the map and organise what needs be organised. But, circumstances may change and we do not want to become slaves of these plans. This means that plans and/or the route may change. |
